Alabama Republicans blast Hunter Biden for defying subpoena, ‘believes he is above the law’

Members of the Alabama Republican Congressional delegation believe Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, is violating the law for refusing to comply with a subpoena from Congress.

“A subpoena is not a suggestion, but Hunter Biden believes he is above the law,” said U.S. Rep. Barry Moore.

Instead of sitting down for a closed-door hearing with investigators in Congress, Biden gave a press conference outside Capitol Hill.

“I’m here today to make sure the House committee’s illegitimate investigations of my family do not proceed on distortions, manipulated evidence and lies, and I’m here today to acknowledge I have made mistakes in my life and wasted opportunities and privileges I was afforded,” Hunter Biden said. “For that, I am responsible. For that, I am accountable. And for that, I am making amends.”

He also defended his business dealings that are facing scrutiny from Republicans.

“Let me state as clearly as I can,” he continued, “my father was not financially involved in my business, not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist.”

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said this was just “another lie told by a member of the Biden family.”

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) implied that he could be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with the subpoena.

“Hunter Biden does not get to dictate how and which laws apply to him,” Aderholt said. “What Hunter Biden is going to learn is that while it may be lucrative to trade off of his father’s name, it does not get him special treatment from the law.”
