The Alabama Republican Party announced the keynote speaker for its upcoming annual Summer Dinner in Montgomery.
The highly anticipated political event in August has featured a number of prominent speakers in recent years, including President Donald Trump and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
On Wednesday, Party Chairman John Wahl revealed that this year’s headliner will be Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Watley.
“Chairman Whatley is one of the most effective and respected leaders in the Republican Party today,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl.
“His leadership has been critical to revitalizing our national infrastructure, reenergizing the grassroots base, and restoring public trust in our election system. Chairman Whatley and I became friends while serving as State Chairmen together on the RNC, and I can tell you firsthand that he understands what it takes to win- not just at the presidential level, but from the local level all the way to the top of the ticket.”
According to Wahl, Watley’s ‘strategic vision and commitment’ to the America First agenda has been invaluable in securing Republican victories throughout the country
“We are honored to welcome him to Alabama for this year’s Summer Dinner. His message of strength, unity, and conservative principles could not come at a more important time for our state and our nation. I know his presence will inspire and energize Republicans as we prepare for the critical elections ahead and continue our fight to protect freedom, faith, and the foundational values that make this country great.”
Before taking the lead at the RNC, Whatley served as Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. He was also a member of the George W. Bush administration and chief of staff for Senator Elizabeth Dole. Whatley is also known for his work as a senior advisor for Trump transition teams.
The event is scheduled for August 1 at the Renaissance Montgomery at the Convention Center. It will feature a reception beginning at 6 p.m., with the dinner scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
