Alabama pastor pens book of practical advice for ‘passing-along’ Christian faith

Alabama pastor and teacher George Shamblin has authored a new book, “The Relay,” which provides Christians with practical advice for sharing their faith and keeping the true Gospel alive.

According to a website publicizing the book, “In ‘The Relay,’ Shamblin catalogs the comparative successes and failures of nine individuals in passing-along their faith to the next generations from the father of all failure (Adam) to the ultimate Spiritual Rags To Riches success (Paul). At the center of his book, not only thematically but literally (chapter six of eleven), is Jesus Christ, whose followers took the race to a whole new level and a whole new arena.”

Shamblin notes that the book serves as a practical how-to guide for anyone seeking to both grow spiritually and impact the world through their legacy.

“In any given area, Christianity is never a generation away from extinction,” Shamblin stated. “At some point in life, it’s natural to consider the legacy you’re going to leave the next generation, the impact your life has had on others. And not just for a lifetime, but, well, forever.”

Called into ministry after a career in pharmaceutical sales, Shamblin attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. He received a Masters in Divinity in 1999 and accepted a position to pastor a newly-formed church in Pensacola, Florida.

He currently holds a position at the Center for Executive Leadership in Birmingham.

The Center’s executive director, Richard Simmons, a best-selling author himself, has given the book high marks.

“‘The Relay’ is a tour-de force of common sense evangelism,” touted Simmons.

While writing that Christianity is “of course not” in peril, he believes “under the right circumstances, it is endangered in any given region of the world.”

He adds, “Consider that, just a generation and a half after John Lennon outraged the West by quipping that the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, Europe’s percentage of practicing Christians is in the single digits.”

About writing “The Relay,” Shamblin outlined the fact that it took him nearly five years from initial inspiration to final edit.

“It may be the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding,” he concluded.

“The Relay” is available for purchase at GeorgeShamblin.com and Amazon.
