Alabama officials slam Biden’s border order as ‘election season spin’

Alabama’s Republican Congressional delegation blasted the White House on Tuesday after the administration announced new executive actions to deal with a border crisis many argue President Joe Biden’s policies have helped create. Biden announced a new Executive Order he says “will help us gain control of our border.”

“Now, these actions alone that I’m going to announce today aren’t going to fix our entire immigration system,” President Biden posted, “but they can help us a good deal in better managing what is a difficult challenge.”

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) called it a “gimmick” that won’t actually solve the problem.

“President Biden’s proclamation today confirms that he’s had the power all along to take executive action to address the border crisis he created,” She said on X. “It’s also a gimmick that contains broad exceptions, including an exception for migrants who use his Administration’s one-click entry scheme – the CBP One app. It’s past time to end every part of the Biden mass migration agenda – not enable it.”

Britt also spoke to “Capitol Report,” and said “every community across Alabama is being affected by Joe Biden’s open border policies.”

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said on Fox Business that this is a “dog and pony show.”

“They think we’re stupid,” Tuberville argued. “This is war on America…this is stupidity. The American taxpayers need protection. The citizens need protection. It is out of control…this is all about polling. They’re getting killed in the election. They know it and they’re trying to trick the American people into something that it’s not.”

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) called it “Biden’s grand reelection plan.”

“Step 1: Create a massive crisis at the Southern Border.,” Rogers explained on X. “Step 2: Try (and fail) to blame the crisis on President Trump as hundreds of thousands of Americans die from the fentanyl flooding over the border. Step 3: Attempt to slap some lipstick on that pig before the election with a (likely ineffective) executive order.”

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said it’s just “election season spin.”

U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) called on Biden to pass H.R. 2 if he’s serious about securing the border.

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) pointed out how Biden finally did something about the crisis “five months from election day.”
