Alabama officials react to Trump running mate J.D. Vance – ‘A tireless advocate for the America First agenda’

Former President Donald Trump announced Monday that he has chosen U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) to be his running mate. As of 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, Vance accepted the nomination from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump shared in a post on Truth Social.

Vance has been a strong ally of Trump’s “America First” agenda. The 39 year old senator gained fame among conservatives for his best selling book “Hillbilly Elegy.”

“As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,’ Trump added.

Vance was elected to the Senate in 2022 after defeating former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan.

Alabama’s political leaders praised Trump’s decision after the announcement Monday.

“My good friend [J.D. Vance] is a tremendous voice for parents, families, and hardworking Americans. As the Republican Party’s nominee for Vice President, he will be a tireless advocate for the America First agenda,” U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said. “It’s time to unite our nation and reverse America’s decline.”

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, who casr all 50 of Alabama’s delegates to Trump earlier today, posted pictures of he and Vance alongside each other at the Manhattan criminal trial last month.
