It appears that the University of Alabama’s search for a new head baseball coach is over.
247sports is reporting that Maryland’s Rob Vaughn has been selected for the job.

Vaughn comes from the Terrapins with a 183-115 record for the past six seasons. He led the team to three NCAA Regionals, back to back Big Ten regular season titles, and a Big Ten tournament title this season.
He has also been selected as Big Ten Coach of the Year twice.
Vaughn will take the helm of the program with a divided fan base. Many Tide fans believe that Jason Jackson, interim head coach for Alabama, earned the head coaching spot and were not pleased to see the school make an outside hire.
Jackson took over last month when head coach Brad Bohannon was fired for “violating the standards, duties and responsibilities expected of university employees,” related to gambling allegations.
Jackson led the Tide in winning 13 of 17 games to close out the season. The Tide’s 43 wins this season is the most for the team since 2006 when they won 44 games. Alabama was also selected to host a regional game for the first time in 17 years.
The Tide’s season ended last weekend in the Wake Forest Super Regionals to the No. 1 ranked Demon Deacons.
