President Joe Biden announced Tuesday he’ll seek another term, extending his lurch as America’s oldest president. In a three-minute video announcement, he asked for voters to help him finish the job he started four years ago.
Several elected officials in Alabama questioned what kind of job that is. Here’s what they said:
Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth
“Under Joe Biden, the U.S. has experienced runaway inflation, uncontrolled crime, a disastrous surrender in Afghanistan, men pretending to be women and vice versa, open door border policies, and countless attacks on the traditional morals and commonsense values that have defined our nation since its founding. Joe Biden is destroying America and must be defeated.”
Attorney General Steve Marshall
“Since Biden’s first day in Office, he has prioritized the harassment of conservative states like Alabama—attempting to bully us into submission on issues like crime, gender, abortion, industry and the environment, and education. Though Republican Attorneys General relish these fights and are proud of our many victories, 2024 can’t get here soon enough.”
Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter
“The Biden re-election announcement is like watching the Titanic hit the iceberg and having the captain ask you to buy a ticket for the return voyage.”
Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield
“Joe Biden will be easier to beat. He will have to run on a terrible record of ill-conceived policies that have weakened the United States both at home and abroad.”
House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen
“President Biden’s announcement of his intention to seek re-election shows that he either does not care about this nation and the damage his administration has imposed on it or, worse, he is enjoying watching the chaos that his dangerous policy decisions have caused in our economy, on our Southern border and for the destruction of Title IX.
I am confident that Biden will go down in history as one of the worst Presidents we have ever had and I have faith in the American people that they will not re-elect this sorry excuse for a leader.”
