Alabama attorneys are preparing to step out of the courtroom and into classrooms across the state on May 1 and 2 as part of Law Day 2025.
This year’s theme, “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One,” celebrates the role of the U.S. Constitution in uniting Americans from all walks of life into a single nation. The Alabama Bar Association is coordinating the effort, offering students a first-hand look at the legal system and the important work lawyers do.
Teachers across Alabama are invited to participate by signing up for an attorney visit. In-person classroom sessions will be offered, and for schools that cannot host an in-person guest, virtual Zoom sessions are also available. During the visit, attorneys will spend about 45 minutes engaging students in age-appropriate discussions about the law, the Constitution, and the realities of practicing law in their communities.
The 2025 Law Day theme draws inspiration from the nation’s founding ideals, emphasizing how the Constitution binds citizens together. The phrase E pluribus unum — “Out of many, one” — serves as a guiding principle, reminding Americans of their shared civic responsibilities and collective promise.
Law Day, first established in 1958, is a national observance held every May 1 to recognize the importance of the rule of law in American society. While May 1 is celebrated differently around the world, including through May Day festivals in other nations, in the United States, it serves as a moment to reflect on constitutional rights and the freedoms they protect.
Teachers interested in bringing a lawyer into their classroom for Law Day can sign up through the Alabama Bar Association’s online portal here.
