Alabama’s Republican federal elected officials are showing their support for President Donald Trump’s action against the dictator of Venezuela.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured and arrested early Saturday morning after a “large scale strike” by the U.S. military.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement.”
U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, lauded Trump for taking “decisive action” against an “illegitimate regime.”
Trump said that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has been sworn in as the country’s new leader, but also emphasized that the U.S. will “running it with a group, and we’re going to make sure it’s run properly.”
U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville), who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, also commended Trump and explained that Maduro was “running a narco-terrorist network that flooded our country with deadly drugs and cost countless American lives.”
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the strike is also “a warning to ANYONE who threatens our country.”
U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), who is also a candidate for the Senate in 2026, believes Maduro is ” kingpin of a vast criminal network,” who needed to be brought to justice.
U.S Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said the strike was “long overdue.”
U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) thanked the “brave men and women in our Armed Forces” for the successful operation.
U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) thinks now is the time Maduro should “face those charges head-on in a U.S. courtroom.”
