Alabama is America’s most-watched college football team, latest ratings show

In the SEC, it just means more, and that is especially true for fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

On3 released a list of the most-watched teams in college football by averaging out their ratings for each game including both the primetime showdowns and lackluster cupcakes, and Alabama has been the most watched team in the nation.

While this fact alone is fascinating, what might be even more interesting is the fact that the entire top-five is littered with teams in the SEC:

With just under 8 million average viewers, the Tide comes in at No. 1 and just ahead of the Tennessee Volunteers at 7.80 million. Like Alabama, Tennessee has played against Georgia, and that factored with the Third Saturday in October put them in front of the eyes of many millions on multiple occasions.

Behind Tennessee with nearly 7.6 million average viewers was the Georgia Bulldogs who came in just ahead of the Texas Longhorns at No. 4 and Oklahoma Sooners at No. 5, who had 6.88 million and 6.29 million respectively.

Rounding out the top-ten is LSU followed by the first and only Big 10 team in Ohio State before Miami, then Florida, and finally Notre Dame.

Clearly, it’s been a phenomenal year of football in the SEC, and as a result, fans are watching in droves. It’s not likely that this is going to change down the stretch this season as the race for Atlanta — and the College Football Playoff — heats up.
