Alabama has received $400,000 in field-storming fine payouts after repetitive upset losses

The Alabama Crimson Tide has lost for the third time this season — and all three losses resulted in fans from the home teams storming the field.

Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Oklahoma fans all descended upon the field with a signature victory over Alabama. But there is a bit of a bright side for Alabama due to new rules surrounding the field storming practice.

In an effort to keep fans off the field — an effort that has been entirely unsuccessful — the SEC announced before the season that fines to the school from storming the field would actually be paid to the losing school. Meaning that every time Alabama has lost this season, they earned $100,000 from the school that beat them.

In fact, Oklahoma was actually fined double this weekend, given that they ran onto the field before the game actually ended. In total, Alabama has racked up a cool $400,000 this season just by losing football games.

While this will be no consolation to fans who are disgusted with the results of the season and they will not see a dime of it, perhaps that money can be put back into the program to prevent these kinds of results in the future.
