Alabama Forestry Association endorses State Sen. April Weaver’s reelection campaign

The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) on Tuesday announced its endorsement of State Sen. April Weaver (R-Brierfield) in her bid for reelection to the Alabama Senate, District 14.

Weaver, the only female Republican in the legislature’s upper chamber, is a registered nurse who holds more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry.

She holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Shelton State Community College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama. Additionally, she is a graduate of Independence University with a master of business administration.

Prior to her election to the Senate, Weaver for 10 years served in the Alabama House of Representatives. She resigned as state representative in 2020 after being appointed to serve in the administration of former President Donald Trump as a regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Upon completing her service in the Trump administration, Weaver earlier this year was overwhelmingly elected to the Senate in the District 14 special election.

AFA president and CEO Chris Isaacson asserted that Weaver’s governmental experience on both the state and federal levels had proven beneficial in her service as an elected official.

“April has been exceptional to work with over the years and I am thankful to have her representing AFA’s members in District 14,” said Isaacson. “April’s experience at the State and Federal level really sets her apart as a leader for Alabama. We are proud to support her with her plans to lead District 14 and our State in the Senate.”

Weaver heaped praise upon AFA for the organization’s advocacy of conservative policies in the state legislature.

“I am so pleased to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association. Forestry is a key contributor to the economy of my district and I support the values and principles that AFA’s members represent,” advised Weaver. “Limited government, fiscal responsibility, private property rights… we are definitely on the same page.”

Senate District 14 includes all or portions of Bibb, Chilton and Shelby Counties. The primary election is slated to occur on May 24, 2022.
