The Alabama Forestry Association has endorsed Montgomery real estate attorney and former Republican nominee for U.S. Congress, Caroleene Dobson, for Secretary of State.
Dobson is running in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary for the open Secretary of State seat. She faces State Auditor Andrew Sorrell.
“Fair, transparent and honest elections are the cornerstone of democracy and vital to the trust that citizens place in their government. Because of this, the office of Secretary of State is very important and requires someone with high character attributes.” Alabama Forestry Association President Chris Isaacson said.
“I have known Caroleene and her family for years and her deep roots in the timber industry combined with her values, intelligence and drive assures me that she will do a great job in this role and we are quite pleased to support her.”
Current Secretary Wes Allen has opted not to run for re-election but instead to seek the open seat of Lt. Governor.
Dobson thanked the industry and individuals that compose it for their support.
“I have the utmost respect for the Alabama Forestry Association and the outstanding work they do for our state’s forestry industry, and I am honored to have their endorsement in this race,” Dobson said.
“As Secretary of State, I will make life easier for Alabama’s job creators by reducing fees, streamlining government services, and collaborating with our business community to build a stronger economy.”
Dobson, a Montgomery resident, was the Republican nominee for Congress in 2024 in the newly-drawn 2nd Congressional district.
In the Republican primary, Dobson as a first-time candidate, defeated a State Senator and a former State Senator. She fell short in the general election against Democrat U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures (D-Mobile)
Dobson and her husband Bobby live in Montgomery and have two children. She grew up in the timber basket of Monroe County on her family’s fifth-generation cattle farm. Dobson graduated high school from Monroe Academy and went on to earn her juris doctorate from Baylor Law School.
