Alabama drops all the way to No. 21, Auburn remains unranked in latest AP Poll

This past weekend saw some absolutely massive developments in the world of college football with two of them right here in our state.

The Auburn Tigers went out and proved to the rest of the country on Friday night that this is not the same old struggling team of the last four years, going on the road and dominating the Baylor Bears en route to a huge victory to kick off the season.

Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide showed they may not have been deserving of the offseason hype they received with an embarrassing effort against Florida State.

Even though there’s often a tendency to overreact to week one, it does seem like the data gathered this past weekend is notable and legitimate on both teams.

With the release of the latest AP Poll on Tuesday afternoon, voters revealed just how much they are valuing the new information.

With the new poll, Alabama has dropped from No. 8 in the nation all the way down to No. 21, and though they received the second most votes outside of the ranked teams, Auburn did not move into the top-25.

As the Tide gets set to host ULM this week, chances are a strong performance could see them grab a couple of the spots back, but largely until they show that what happened in Tallahassee was a fluke, this is where they’re at.

Auburn on the other hand will likely have to destroy both Ball State and South Alabama the next two weeks if they want to be ranked ahead of their game against Oklahoma on the road here in a few weeks. The Tigers will continue to go about their business though, and this will only fuel them more.
