Alabama cities on target for new business ISP

Alabama may soon have another internet service provider for business and enterprise.

Uniti Group, specialists in critical communications infrastructure, announced plans to introduce its fiber network into the Yellowhammer State.

The Little Rock, Ark.-based company seeks to provide advanced connectivity solutions to business communities and access opportunities for wholesale customers.

Uniti expansion plans include Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa. The company is also expanding into Georgia and Louisiana.

Enterprise, medical, financial, government and education customers are attractive targets for growth, the company said.

Uniti said it has fiber network infrastructure that spans 135,000 route miles and 8 million strand miles across the U.S. This provides access to enterprise customers, fueling local business communities with economic development and continued growth.

“Uniti’s continued strategic network densification, particularly within our Southeast markets where our brand is already solidly established, will create significant advantages for our enterprise and wholesale customers who continue to face an increasingly competitive environment, with growing bandwidth demands, evolving security threats and aging infrastructure,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Cathy De La Garza. “I’m excited that Uniti is providing the solutions that will help organizations within these communities compete more effectively.”
