Alabama brewery pokes fun at Les Miles firing with latest chalk masterpiece

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Druid City Brewing Company has done it again. The Tuscaloosa based craft brewer has made a name for itself with its witty SEC football themed chalk drawings, and its take on the firing of LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles did not disappoint.

Titled “The Persistence of Clock Management,” the drawing pokes fun at Miles’ inability to manage the clock late in games, a characteristic the “Mad Hatter” displayed until the very end of his tenure with the Bayou Bengals.

In his final game with LSU, Miles lost to Auburn after squandering away precious time. The Tigers of the LSU variety had seemingly won the game in miraculous fashion with a last-second touchdown pass, but officials determined that the ball had not been snapped until after the clock hit zero.

Druid City’s work is also a parody of Salvador Dali’s famous painting “The Persistence of Memory.” Dali’s piece is considered to be an prime example of surreal art, much like Miles’ style of coaching.

For the past several years, Druid City has featured chalk murals of SEC greats on the walls of its Tuscaloosa location. Most have dealt with Alabama football icons such as the “Nicky Stardust,” the Nick Saban Bear-Bryant Sistine Chapel parody, and the Lane Kiffin Cherub mocking Van Halen’s 1984 album cover.
