Yea Alabama, the University of Alabama’s NIL collective, is collapsing its five-tier plan into two price points — $5 “Rookie” and $25 “Veteran” — and rolling out new member features on September 30.
The update, announced with help from Tide play-by-play voice Chris Stewart, is intended to broaden participation and simplify benefits.
“We believe lowering the cost of memberships will give more fans the opportunity to join,” said Doug Killough, Director of Marketing and Membership at Yea Alabama.
“By lowering the cost, we are making Yea Alabama more accessible, which will allow more fans to get involved and be part of this greater commitment to our student-athletes.”
In the era of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) in college sports, schools have had to find creative ways to fundraise and be able to adapt to the changing times which are much more of a financial competition than has ever been the case before.
As a result, schools have had to form collectives and ask fans to join for a monthly rate in exchange for perks and benefits as well as the added bonus of helping out your beloved program and giving to what is now directly related to a recruiting advantage for talent acquisition.
With Yea Alabama’s new changes, ‘Rookie’ level members will get access to the exclusive message board plus Alabama Athletics content, breaking news and announcements.
‘Veteran’ level members will get access to everything in Rookie plus player shoutouts and more features coming soon.
On September 30, several new features will launch including a point system known as Yea Coins along with a message board to “engage in 24/7 dialogue around their favorite Alabama sports, Alabama student-athletes and college athletics.”
“We work continuously to enhance the member experience and create more value for our members,” Killough said.
“We are excited about these updates and think members will benefit greatly making this a win-win.”
