Alabama AGC has named its 2026 40 Under 40 class, recognizing a group of emerging professionals helping shape the future of Alabama’s construction industry.
The Alabama Associated General Contractors honored this year’s class during its annual awards event at Back Forty Beer Company in Birmingham.
The honorees come from a broad range of construction-related fields, including project management, engineering, safety, law and technical specialties. Alabama AGC created the program to recognize younger professionals positioned to lead an industry responsible for major infrastructure, commercial, manufacturing, education and health care projects across the state.
“These young professionals represent exactly why I am optimistic about the future of construction in Alabama,” said Mike Scarborough of Doster Construction, president of Alabama AGC.
“They are already taking on significant responsibilities, leading teams, solving difficult problems and finding better ways to build. Just as important, they understand that leadership is about more than a job title. It is about being involved in your company, your industry and your community.”
Alabama AGC CEO Billy Norrell said the class also highlights the variety of careers that make up the modern construction industry.
“When people think about construction, they sometimes think only about what happens on the jobsite,” Norrell said. “But our industry depends on talented professionals across dozens of disciplines.”
Norrell said the organization wants honorees building relationships early in their careers that can eventually translate into leadership roles within their companies and Alabama’s broader construction community.
