GOPAC, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that prides itself on training up the conservative “farm team” around the country, today announced its 2015 Class of Emerging Leaders. Included on the prestigious list is Alabama State Rep. Danny Garrett (R-Trussville).
Rep. Garrett was one of only 23 members of the nationwide class nominated for the honor by the organization’s Legislative Leaders Advisory Board.
“Our Emerging Leaders program ensures a roster of prepared and tested Republicans ready to lead in their state legislatures and run for higher office.” said GOPAC Chairman David Avella. “As evidenced by past honorees now serving in Congress or as leaders in their state legislative chambers, this program has proven effective at advancing the Republican Party’s next generation. Further, Republican majorities in 69 of 99 state legislative chambers have proven a tremendous advantage in federal elections.”
“I’m honored for the recognition and excited for the opportunity,” Rep. Garrett told Yellowhammer Monday morning. “The information they have about emerging issues, strategy, and communication skills are practical for equipping leaders for service.”
Garrett was elected to the state legislature in 2014 after longtime Trussville lawmaker Arthur Payne retired.
