AL-5 hopeful Paul Sanford signs ‘America First’ pledge — ‘Alabamians can count on me to follow through’

Former State Sen. Paul Sanford, Republican candidate for Alabama’s fifth congressional district, on Wednesday announced that he had signed the “America First Alabama Pledge.”

America First Alabama is a nonprofit organization that actively promotes the “America First” agenda and highlights candidates that take the pledge to support such policies.

In announcing his signing of the pledge, Sanford made mention of his former service in the Alabama Legislature and noted his commitment to honoring his prior self-imposed term limit.

“As a small businessman, committed Constitutional Conservative, and former state senator who stuck by his term limits pledge, I am proud to be one of the first signers of the America First Alabama Pledge in this race,” stated Sanford. “When I sign a pledge to the voters, I mean it, and Alabamians can count on me to follow through. The principles in this pledge are directly in line with the values I’ve demonstrated throughout my life, business practices, and public service, and I am grateful for the opportunity to sign, and for the good work being done by America First Alabama.”

David Owens, a founder of the nonprofit organization, praised Sanford’s commitment to upholding the pledge should his congressional bid prove successful.

“We are very pleased to announce our newest America First commitment, AL Congressional Candidate Paul Sanford, who is running for the Alabama 5th Congressional seat! Thank you Paul for committing to an America First agenda for your potential constituents,” stated Owens.
