AL-02 GOP candidate Jeff Coleman applauds U.S. trucking amid coronavirus outbreak — Keeping the supply chain ‘safe and intact’

As the country continues to practice social distancing and other guidelines to prevent the spread of the COVID-19/coronavirus, America’s supply chains have been thoroughly tested as many people are opting for home delivery of goods they may have once traveled to a store to purchase.

That transition has increased the burden on American trucking, which for the most part, has held up throughout the ordeal.

During an interview with Huntsville radio’s WVNN, Coleman Worldwide Moving President and CEO Jeff Coleman touted his industry’s role in helping to maintain the supply chain, which ensures a level of economic activity throughout the coronavirus crisis.

“It’s going very well,” Coleman explained when asked for his assessment of the trucking industry. “Trucks have continued as an essential service. We’re seeing that, not only in the final mile but also in our interstate and intrastate distribution. The systems are intact. You’re seeing a lot more people shopping online, receiving home delivery. I think some of the things that had already begun in our society have continued to grow.”

“[I’m] very proud of our truckers — Mark Colson and Alabama Trucking — in what we’re doing to keep the supply chain safe and intact to where everybody is doing well,” he continued. “So, I am very proud of our truckers.”

“I think that’s a testament to our supply chain and what’s been built in this great country,” he added. “We’re the greatest country in the world, and we’ve built a supply chain that is second to none. And I think that says in all of our modes of various modes of distribution, as long as it’s safe, we’re going to continue to provide the products for all of our Americans. So, very proud of what’s going on, and I’m thankful for the industry that I’m a part of.”

Coleman faces former State Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) in the since-delayed July 14 GOP runoff.
