Attorney General Steve Marshall last week announced a lawsuit that the State of Alabama was bringing against the Biden administration over its failure to enforce existing immigration law.
The lawsuit seeks to reverse the administration’s practice of refusing to deport criminal illegal aliens and the release of such foreign nationals into U.S. communities.
Monday evening, Marshall joined Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle” to discuss his efforts to push back against the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
Alabama’s chief law enforcement officer told host Laura Ingraham that it was “an outrage” that the state was having to file suit against the administration to force them to adhere to federally-enacted immigration law.
“[W]e’ve seen in multiple efforts by Alabama and other states in pushing back on the immigration efforts of this administration where they’re continuing to lose in court,” said Marshall. “Frankly, Laura, it’s an outrage that we had to file the case this week just to simply get the Biden administration to do their job.”
While not being a border state, Marshall indicated that Alabama still suffered the consequences of lax border policies.
“We’re not a border state but we seized eight pounds of fentanyl just last week with good efforts of law enforcement on the border,” advised Marshall. “You’ve described many times on this show about the absolute siege that the cartel is imposing on this country with the clandestine drugs coming across our border. We talk a lot about the deaths during COVID, but if you look between that same period of time between [ages] 18-45, we lost more people to overdose deaths in that age group that we did to COVID.”
He continued, “You know, it’s a significant problem and yet we have this administration now who doesn’t want to deport drug traffickers and aggravated felons who come into our communities, are here unlawfully, have violated our criminal laws. But yet they don’t want to deport them and send them home. And hopefully our lawsuit is one of the ways of forcing this administration to do what Congress told them they shall do, and that’s send these individuals back home.”
According to Marshall, the Biden administration has done “everything they can” to increase the number of illegal aliens that cross the border into the nation’s interior.
“It’s an absolute dereliction of duty. You’ve seen this administration on countless occasions do everything they can to enhance border crossings, not to be able to secure our border, not to allow Border Patrol to be able to do their jobs. And the result of that is not only our communities being less safe, but also we’re allowing people that Congress has already identified as more likely to commit crimes in communities once they’re released and that’s those that the Biden administration is not deporting and sending back to the countries where they came from,” concluded the attorney general.
