AFLA endorses slate of 2014 candidates

YHN-ALFA EndorsementsThe Alabama Farmer Federations, ALFA, political action committee FarmPAC announced Monday their endorsements for congressional and state offices in the 2014 elections.

The FarmPAC Advisory Trustees are made up of farmers representing every county in Alabama. They met with candidates and made their endorsements at ALFA’s Monday meeting, at the Federation home office in Montgomery.

“Alabama is blessed with incumbents in a number of a state and congressional races who understand the importance of agriculture to our state and share the values of our membership,” Federation President Jimmy Parnell said. “This FarmPAC meeting gave our leaders an opportunity to make early endorsements of these incumbents and show our appreciation for the good job they’ve done serving Alabama.”

Here is the early list of candidates receiving ALFA’s endorsement:

  • Gov. Robert Bentley
  • Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey
  • Attorney General Luther Strange
  • State Treasurer Young Boozer
  • Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries John McMillan
  • Justice Greg Shaw, Alabama Supreme Court
  • Judge Scott Donaldson, Alabama Court of Civil Appeals
  • Judge William Thompson, Alabama Court of Civil Appeals
  • Judge Beth Kellum, Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals
  • Judge Mary Windom, Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals
  • U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.
  • U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, District 2
  • U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, District 3
  • U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, District 4
  • U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, District 5
  • U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, District 6
  • U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, District 7

ALFA said they expect to make more endorsements for statewide 2014 races early next year. The 2014 primary election is June 3. The General election is November 4.

ALFA was formed in 1921 and is the largest farm organization in the state, with more than 365,000 members.
