Sen. Trip Pittman | Chairman | Senate Education Budget Committee
Pittman is a larger-than-life presence on the 7th floor of the state house. He loves to mix it up as much as anyone in the Senate. He’s got a libertarian streak and is not afraid to buck the status quo. If he philosophically disagrees with a piece of legislation, he’s going to do his best to stop it no matter what side of the aisle it’s coming from or what interest groups support it.
Pittman has garnered a lot of respect from his constituents for sticking to his guns when it comes to both policy and politics. He made a commitment not to accept political contributions from PACs and he’s kept his word.
On top of all that, Pittman Chairs the Senate Education Budget Committee. That means he has tremendous influence over how that State of Alabama spends its $6 billion Education Budget.
After briefly considering both running for congress and exiting elected office all-together, Pittman decided to return to Montgomery for at least one more term. He’s set to be “Mr. Chairman” for the foreseeable future. That’s good news for conservatives around the state who are benefiting from Pittman’s limited government approach to budgeting.
