7 Things: Election Day is here, Alabama will have results tonight but some states won’t, even Alabama has stores preparing for chaos over results and more …

7. Dr. Fauci is probably going to get fired, and no one is surprised

  • It’s expected that President Donald Trump will fire Dr. Anthony Fauci after the election, as the two have regularly been at odds over the coronavirus pandemic. Trump has publicly criticized Fauci in the past, which is usually a sign he’s about to fire him.
  • At a recent campaign rally, some of those in the crowd chanted, “Fire Fauci.” Trump replied, “Don’t tell anybody but let me wait until a little bit after the election.”

6. Del Marsh won’t seek reelection

  • Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh (R-Anniston) has announced that he won’t be running for reelection when the time comes in 2022, saying that he’s “just ready to spend more time with family.”
  • Marsh has been working in the Senate since 1998, and he’s been pro tem since 2010. Marsh has spent much of his career working for school choice and things such as the Alabama Accountability Act. In December, Senate Republicans will decide if Marsh will remain pro tem until the end of his term.

5. Should attorney generals predict election before votes are counted?

  • In Pennsylvania, Attorney General Josh Shapiro has said, “If all the votes are added up in PA, Trump is going to lose. That’s why he’s working overtime to subtract as many votes as possible from this process.”
  • In 2016, President Donald Trump barely won the state, and currently, polls show former Vice President Joe Biden barely leading, but many have already criticized Shapiro for stating Biden would win the state before votes are even counted.

4. Dumb people do dumb things in both parties

  • In Huntsville, the Democratic Party headquarters was vandalized with eggs. Madison County has also been reporting an increase in Biden/Harris campaign signs being stolen. Party officials have said in a news release that this has “forced the party to plan for security on Election Day.”
  • In Birmingham, there have been reports of anti-Trump vandalism that are currently under investigation. There have also been reports of yard signs stolen in the Tuscaloosa area.

3. Walmart in Alabama boarded up over election

  • Following multiple stories of storefronts and even news outlets boarding up their windows ahead of the elections, a Walmart in Birmingham has decided to do the same because of the election.
  • The Eastwood Mall location of the global retailer is the only store, so far, in Alabama to do so. U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) took to Facebook to give his opinion on this phenomenon, saying, “Let’s be clear about why businesses in Alabama and across America are boarding up ahead of Election Day tomorrow: lawless Socialist Democrat rioters and domestic terrorist group Antifa.”

2. Alabama’s results will come in tonight — other states aren’t so sure

  • Almost everyone expects there to be issues counting votes with so many early votes and higher than expected turnout, which includes a vote-counting process that could drag out for weeks. However, Alabama is expecting to have its results ready to go before the night is over.
  • Another item to watch is the shift from Democrat early voters to Republican in-person votes being reported, but Alabama will count all of their votes at the same time so those issues will not be apparent in the state, according to fivethirtyeight.com.

1. Today is the day

  • It’s Election Day across the country. Americans will go to the polls and decide who will lead the nation at the federal, state and local level. Turnout is already record-breaking numbers for early turnout, and big in-person numbers are expected, as well.
  • Even with all of the attention, commercials, prodding from every sector of American society — from the Cartoon Network to the NFL — and time off for voting, the American media is continuing to pretend the act of voting is somehow complicated and confusing.
