GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — Five Alabama lakes have earned a spot on Bassmaster’s 100 Best Bass Lakes of 2015, including one in the top 10.

Guntersville Lake came in at the highest spot among Alabama’s lakes at #6, followed by #21 Lake Eufaula, #36 Pickwick Lake, #54 Lay Lake, and #93 Logan Martin Lake.

Alabama’s largest lake, Lake Guntersville has become a must-visit destination for anglers, bass fishers in particular, as the area has hosted 30 Bassmaster tournaments. The area’s tourism industry has grown in recent decades as visitors discover the charms of the area, including Bald Eagle spotting and camping at the State Park.

“Lake Guntersville is a challenging body of water to fish and if you aren’t up to the challenge, you might want to take your gear and go somewhere else,” said Marshall County Convention & Visitors Bureau President Katy Norton. “But, if you are game; if you look forward to pitting your skills against one of the best bass lakes in the country and you want to take home the big one, come see us at Lake Guntersville. Just do your research. We are a lake that has healthy grass cover in early summer through late September and the frog bite is best in October. You can fish Lake G a million different ways and have success and you can hit the water and not get a bite all day.”
