#14 – David Perry

14_squareDavid Perry | Chief of Staff | Gov. Robert Bentley

The Universe that spins around the governor includes staffers, advisors and aides playing a countless number of different roles — from implementing public policy to advancing the governor’s legislative agenda to getting Bentley re-elected. In the midst of all that controlled chaos is 35-year-old David Perry, who’s essentially tasked with helping the governor run state government.

When it comes to government operations, dealing with cabinet members, and other official Administration business, if Gov. Bentley’s not in the room, he has empowered Perry to execute the governor’s vision on his behalf.

Perry is a Duke-educated lawyer who has also served as State Finance Director, which gives him an in-depth understanding of state budgets. It’s not unusual for people to refer to him as “one of the smartest people I’ve ever met.” He has been playing a senior role in shaping state government policy since his mid-20s.
