Governor Kay Ivey announced Thursday afternoon that the State of Alabama is offering $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who killed an Alabama toddler.
A Birmingham-based organization is offering an additional $5,000 for the same type of information
Major Turner, age 2, lived on John Bryan Road in Birmingham. According to reports, an individual approached the apartment in which he and his mother lived and fired multiple rounds from a gun in the early hours of Friday, February 4.
The child was hit in the neck. He was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Alabama, where he died from the injuries he sustained. His mother was seriously hurt but recovered.
The state is not the only entity offering a reward for information related to Turner’s killer.
The organization CrimeStoppers of Metro Alabama is also offering $5,000, making a total of $10,000 available to the person providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
Members of the public can contact CrimeStoppers at 205-254-7777.
Crimestoppers can also be reached online or via a smartphone app.
Those who give information to Crimestoppers, “never have to be interviewed by law enforcement, never have to testify and will never have to confront the criminal,” according to the organization’s website.
