100°-plus ‘feels like’ temps possible Friday

Don’t sweat – that map is the “feels like” temperature. 

The National Weather Service has advised the heat index might break the 100-degree barrier across parts of Alabama tomorrow. An excessive heat warning is in effect. 

Forecasts indicate the heatwave will intensify Friday. The “feels like” temperature, factoring in humidity, could rise as high as 115. 

A return to more seasonable temperatures, ranging from the upper 80s to low 90s, is forecast for Alabama from Monday onward.

The Alabama heat advisories and warnings are as follows:

North Alabama

  • Excessive heat warning (Thursday 11 a.m. – Friday 8 p.m.) for Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin counties
  • Heat advisory (Thursday 11 a.m. – Friday 11 a.m.) for Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, and Cullman counties
  • Excessive heat warning (Friday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.) for Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, and Cullman counties
  • Heat advisory (Friday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.) for Marshall, Jackson, and DeKalb counties

Central Alabama

  • Excessive heat warning (Thursday 11 a.m. – Friday 9 p.m.) for Lamar, Marion, Pickens, and Sumter counties
  • Heat advisory (Thursday 11 a.m. – Friday 11 a.m.) for 16 counties including Autauga, Bibb, Blount, and more
  • Excessive heat warning (Friday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.) for 20 counties including Autauga, Bibb, Blount, and more
  • Heat advisory (Friday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.) for 14 counties including Barbour, Bullock, Calhoun, and more

South Alabama

  • Excessive heat warning (Thursday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.) for Mobile and Baldwin counties
  • Heat advisory (Thursday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.) for Escambia, Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, and inland Baldwin counties
  • Excessive heat watch (Friday morning – night) for Mobile, Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, and Baldwin counties
