As reported by WKRG News, the Baldwin County authorities confirm that a pelican was found dead after having its beak and feet bound with electrical tape.

Alabama Ecological Services Field Office made the matter public in a Facebook post Tuesday. The post reads, “we need your help solving a disturbing crime. Someone found a dead pelican with its beak and feet bound with electrical tape. Authorities believe someone captured the bird and left it to die at Pelican Point (also known as Mullet Point) in south Baldwin County. Not only is this a violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It’s also a sickening thing to do. If you have any information on this case, please call our law enforcement office at 251-441-5758. Please share!”

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act is punishable by a fine of up to $500 or six months in jail.

Again, if you have any information surrounding this crime, please call 251-441-5758.
