Alabama-based St. Paul and The Broken Bones rock CBS ‘This Morning’

Birmingha, Ala.-based soul rockers St. Paul and The Broken Bones performed several songs last week on CBS’ “This Morning,” as they continue to build the buzz around their debut album, “Half this City.”

CBSNews.com called them “one of the hottest new bands on the scene” and declared that they “are single handedly bringing Southern soul music back to the forefront.”

They performed “Call Me,” “Broken Bones and Pocket Change” and the title track off of their debut album, which is currently out on Single Lock Records. The label was founded by John Paul White of The Civil Wars and Ben Tanner of Alabama Shakes. Tanner also produced the album.

CBS is just the latest national outlet to jump on the St. Paul bandwagon.

Neil Ferguson of the influential roots music blog NoDepression.com raved about St. Paul & the Broken Bones in a recent post titled “10 Acts I Saw (and Loved) at SXSW 2014.” Here’s what he had to say in his writeup:

I have never seen a club fill up as fast as the Tap Room did just minutes before the up-and-coming Alabama band St. Paul and the Broken Bones took the stage. The unassuming group of guys in the Broken Bones were on point in their delivery and funky grooves while frontman Paul Janeway rid the entire audience of their demons with his soulful crooning and sermon-like approach to handling a crowd. It’s no wonder that St. Paul and the Broken Bones have received so much hype, because much like their peers the Alabama Shakes, they deserve it. Their SXSW showcase was one of the most riveting performances I have seen from any band in a long time and literally had me shaking with excitement.

The band has a jam-packed tour schedule through the summer, which will take them all over the U.S. and some of the festival circuit in the UK. You can check out their new CD in their online store HERE.
