Indictment: Ala. public employee spent $25k of taxpayer money on strip clubs, online dating

FAYETTE, Ala. — The former manager of the Fayette water board was reportedly indicted by a grand jury this week for allegedly spending $25,000 in city funds on strip clubs, dating websites, and lingerie.

Scotty Allen Moore, 54, retired from his position at the Fayette water board in March 2014, after 17 years of employment there.

Moore will face charges of using his position for personal gain, second-degree theft, and fraud.

According to the indictment, Moore used a board-issued credit card on a personal purchases, including spending more than $2,500 each at strip clubs in New Orleans, Dothan, and Birmingham.

Moore is also accused of spending more than $2,500 on “lingerie, ladies’ jackets. ladies’ sweaters, a pair of ladies’ high-heel boots and various other items of ladies’ clothing,” as well as spending an unspecified amount setting up profiles on online dating websites.

The accusations are contained in nine indictments totaling 34 individual charges. Moore was arrested and held in the Fayette County jail until he paid his bond of $180,000.
