The hickory smoke has finally cleared and the winners of the Alabama Tourism Department’s BBQ Battle have been revealed.
Over one million votes were cast online in five different categories.
The contest was part of the Tourism Department’s “Year of Alabama Barbecue” campaign.
“Alabama is not only home to the world’s best barbecue, but also to fierce competition,” said Lee Sentell, director of the Alabama Tourism Department. “This was clearly a competition between the fans of each restaurant. The five winning restaurants certainly have a lot to celebrate, but this competition turned out to be great exposure for everyone involved.”
The top five from each category can be found below. Check out the full list of winners at alabamabbqbattle.com.
