MOBILE, Ala. — A Mobile, Alabama, non-profit is accepting old electronics to recycle in order to raise money for the organization, and all you have to do is drop them off.

United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile works with hundreds of families in the area and provides pre-school programs, summer camps, and adult programs for people with special needs.

During the organization’s recycling campaign, it will accept all old electronics and disassemble them for free. The scrapped parts will be sold to licensed recyclers, and the money made will help fund programs for the non-profit organization. UCP staff will even come to you and pickup any old electronics you are willing to donate.

Here are just a few of the items being collected for recycling:

  • Computers
  • Laptops
  • DVD and Blu Ray players
  • Cell phones
  • Tablets
  • Flat screen T.V.s and monitors that work
  • Printers and fax machines.

For those who want to get involved, UCP’s Marty Wheeler says, “The easiest way to do this is to, for the individual to get their company involved, most folks go to work somewhere.”

Please call UCP’s resident e-waste expert, John Vella, at (251) 338-3357 if you are interested in dropping off your electronics. Electronic junk can be dropped off at 3086 Dauphin Square Connector or at their warehouse at 1606 Industrial Park Circle.
