Progressive Pipe Fabricators opens Alabama facility, creating 60 jobs

Progressive Pipe Fabricators recently celebrated the grand opening of their new Trinity, Alabama, production facility.

The 82,000-square-foot facility in Lawrence County, which has been under construction since being announced in January, will offer custom fire protection services; the facility is expected to fabricate and deliver more than 20,000 individual sprinklers per week and also has the capacity to ship more than one million pounds of fabricated sprinkler pipe per week.

A ribbon-cutting event last week drew a number of attendees from the National Fire Sprinkler Association and officials around Alabama, including PSC President Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh and Secretary of State John Merrill.

In a statement to Yellowhammer News, Cavanaugh said, “I am always proud to support our tremendous ‘Made In Alabama’ manufacturers.”

“It was an honor to participate in the grand opening of this impressive facility, which will help hardworking Alabamians earn a living and support their families,” she continued. “This year has been an unprecedented challenge for workers and businesses of all sizes, and we as public servants have a duty to create a climate in which job creators can do what they do best in a safe and responsible manner. Now is the time to Keep Alabama Open, relying on innovation rather than mandating regression. Working together, we can save both lives and livelihoods.”

Progressive Pipe Fabricators is a division of Shambaugh & Son L.P., the third largest specialty contractor in the United States.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this new facility,” stated Rob Vincent, Shambaugh’s chief operating officer for fire protection. “By expanding our fabrication capabilities throughout the United States, our new shop will now serve a much larger geographic area. What’s even more exciting is that while we’re expanding our reach, we’re simultaneously bolstering our sustainability efforts by reducing fuel consumption and improving speed to market.”

The facility is expected to support 60 new jobs in Lawrence County, per a release this week. The facility is adjacent to Nucor Tubular Products Trinity at the Mallard Fox West Industrial Complex. Progressive Pipe Fabricators is partnering with Nucor on certain aspects of the new facility.

“Being able to support the local community as an employer is something that makes all of us at Progress Pipe Fabricators extremely proud,” Vincent concluded. “I’m happy to report that with support from the State of Alabama Department of Commerce AIDT Division, we’ve successfully filled nearly all of those jobs.”
