SEC Country reported this morning that the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game between the University of Alabama and Florida State is officially sold out.
This epic showdown set for Saturday, September 2nd will be the first between ‘Bama’s Nick Saban and Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher. In the closely-related “coaching tree” of college football’s elites, Fisher was Saban’s offensive coordinator at LSU, and he’s just one of four current coaches that have won a national title. Saban, of course, leads the pack with four national championships. Ohio State’s Urban Meyer trails him with three, while Fisher and Clemson’s Dabo Swinney have one a piece.
In a press release, Gary Stokan, CEO, and president of Peach Bowl, Inc. said,
We’re calling this game the GOAT, the Greatest Opener of All Time, because of the projected rankings, the dominance of these two programs and the fact that this is the toughest ticket I have seen in my 20 years in college football. To possibly have #1 against #2 in the first game of the season is a credit to the programs that Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher have built and their willingness to play this game shows their desire to compete at the highest level.
Both teams return a wealth of talent in what will surely be an epic early-season matchup that’s likely to have a strong bearing on determining the eventual champion of college football in the upcoming season.
An 8:00 pm Kickoff is set for Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game that’s airing on ESPN.
