State Rep. Paul DeMarco, R-Homewood, will report raising $360,730 for his AL-06 Congressional bid in the first fundraising period when he files his financial report.

“We are extremely pleased with the strong support shown by people throughout the counties that make up the sixth congressional district,” DeMarco said in a release. “I am humbled by the overwhelming in-state support for this congressional campaign.”

Here are some key numbers from the DeMarco campaign:

∙ 394 total contributions were made to the campaign
∙ Individual donors made up 380 of those contributions
∙ 97 percent on the donations came from Alabama residents
∙ Individual donors contributed a total of $324,980
∙ Contributions ranged from $25 to $2,600 (max allowed by law)
∙ DeMarco didn’t personally loan any money to his campaign

“The strong showing of people; from CEO’s to doctors, trusted public servants to hard-working everyday citizens, demonstrates this campaign is about representing the rights and values of Alabama citizens,” DeMarco said. “The work starts here. We call on the people of the Sixth District to join us in the fight to take proven, conservative representation to Washington.”

DeMarco’s impressive number comes on the heels of campaign finance announcements by two other Sixth Congressional District candidates, Dr. Chad Mathis and Gary Palmer.

Mathis announced earlier this week that he raised $350,000. Sources told Yellowhammer last week that Palmer will show $250,000 raised.

Republican Will Brooke has not yet announced how much money he raised and Tom Vigneulle was not yet in the race when the first fundraising period ended at the end of December.

DeMarco is a two-term state representative seeking the Republican nomination for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Spencer Bachus. The primary is scheduled for June 3rd, 2014.
