The Secretary of State John Merrill is putting a stop to political ads engaged in voter suppression.
Merrill’s office sent a statement to Google asking the ad to be pulled.
It originates from a super PAC known as Highway 31, which supports Democrat Doug Jones.
At issue is the ad’s statement that voting for the opponent Republican Roy Moore would become public record.
Secretary of State Merrill says that it is inaccurate and confusing to voters and could dissuade some from participating in the democratic process for fear of retribution.
Merrill says no individual voting record is made public at any time.
