Alabama AG Marshall Pledges Fight Against Corruption and For the Unborn

Sitting Attorney General Steve Marshall is running to reclaim his seat, and his platform focuses on his reputation as a corruption fighter. As he noted in a video his campaign released this morning:

The public corruption we’ve witnessed over the last twenty years is simply unacceptable. The people of Alabama deserve better. As a prosecutor, I’ve enforced the ethics law in courtrooms in this state. I’ve held those who’ve violated those ethics laws accountable, and sent them to prison.

When Yellowhammer interviewed Attorney General Marshall in May he indicated that his Christian faith informs his worldview and it’s also apparent that Marshall views his career as his life’s calling.

My faith is the grounding force of everything that I do in my life, that I understand that I’m not Attorney General, first. But instead, I’m a Believer in Jesus Christ. Twenty years ago I found my passion; and that was to serve as a prosecutor. Everyday having the opportunity to come to work to find justice for law enforcement and victims in my community and now as Attorney General across the state of Alabama.

Marshall also shared that being appointed a defense attorney early in his career convinced him that he wanted to be on the other side of the judge’s bench, convicting criminals. As he told Yellowhammer in this spring:

I performed the role I was bound by law to execute [as a defense attorney], but when that case was over, I didn’t feel good about how my skills had been used. At that moment, I made a commitment that for the rest of my career, I’d prosecute criminals, so when I was offered the opportunity to become a district attorney in Marshall County, it was part of a natural progression from previous prosecutorial roles.

Marshall’s campaign video also points to his record as a pro-life and conservative, stating:

I’ve fought on behalf the unborn, but also those Republican ideals that speak to limited government to push back against over-regulation by those in Washington. And to make sure people that understand government has a limited purpose, not there to solve all problems, but to serve them well. You have given me the greatest opportunity I’ve ever had professionally, to be able to share the stories of law enforcement and victims throughout this state, to work to be able to keep our communities safer. We’ve made progress, but there is much work that needs to be done. I’m Steve Marshall, Attorney General of Alabama, and I’m asking for your vote.
